40% Less Concrete
When compared to solid block retaining wall systems, MagnumStone blocks use 40% less concrete, since the hollow core eliminates a large portion of poured concrete during block production. This saves concrete producers costly expenses of raw products when compared to a solid block – with less cement, water, aggregates and labor.
40% More Retaining Wall
By removing excess concrete from MagnumStone’s b hollow core blocks, you can ship more blocks to site in less truckloads. Each block has a full 8 sq ft (0.745 sq m) of facing. When comparing facing area to most big block systems, MagnumStone block facings offer 40% more sq footage (sq m), resulting in less blocks required for projects and faster installations.
40% More Permeable
Did you know that the most common causes of wall failures are water-related? Water adds hydro-static pressure to the infill zone of the retaining wall and, if not taken care of, adds loading and could eventually cause failures. MagnumStone has an integrated drainage zone in the blocks’ vertical and horizontal hollow core, ensuring that no water stays within the block zone. Of course, proper drainage outlets and water management is also critical for every design.
40% More Eco-Friendly
Concrete is still a critical building material, durable and easy to work with. It helped Roman structures stand the test of time. Finding sustainable solutions and reducing excessive concrete production (40% less concrete in our hollow core blocks) are major steps in the right direction though. Plantable walls are excellent applications, as planting shrubs and trees inside the pockets of our blocks’ hollow cores builds greener walls and reduces heat island effect.
40% Faster Installation
Every standard MagnumStone retaining wall block face is 8 sq ft. This improves installation efficiency, allowing more block to be installed in less time. We realize installation equipment is valuable, minimizing its use is vital to reduce maintenance and extend its lifespan. With every MagnumStone block, you can install 40% more facing than most other systems.
40% Depth Of Excavation
Using MagnumStone gravity extenders, you can achieve as low as 40% height of wall for retaining wall base excavation. That saves precious and very expensive land. The retaining wall extenders attach to the back of the standard block and, if needed, can also be connected together. The tongue and groove system firmly interlocks for more strength and safety.
